Pedagogy

The Pedagogy includes a balanced mix of lectures case studies,seminars,business games, industrial assignments, live projects,role play and field visits.The Institute places heavy emphasis on experimental and process oriented learning.Besides honing up the skills of individual decision making,enough emphasis is laid on developing team skills and value focused decision making.TIM has a vibrant students community. Here learning is not confined to classroom sessions.Seminars, journal club article reviews and presentations, co–curricular competitions, cultural events are regular features of campus life.

Facilities for indoor and outdoor games, yoga and gymnasium are also available in the campus. All the participants are required to undergo their summer projects in an organisation of repute for three months as stipulated by the University of Kerala.

TIM’s Active and Competent team -TACT, is the apex association of students for organizing seminars, guest talks, interaction with experts, quiz programs, TIM Fest and cultural events. TACT aims at promoting creativity and developing organizational and leadership skills among the participants.

INDUSTRY INTERNSHIP · MBA SI1 · Semester 3

Objectives

The internship bridges the gap between what is taught and what the workplace actually demands. Students explore careers in their chosen domain Marketing, HR, Finance, Operations and Logistics & Supply Chain Management and more while putting classroom knowledge to the test in real conditions.
It is a powerful platform to build professional references, strengthen a resume, and for many secure a pre-placement offer before the degree is even complete.

• Leadership and skill development through live assignments
• Networking and establishing mentors and professional references
• Resume enhancement through real-world work experience

Structure & Process

Each student is placed in an organisation for a minimum of 30 days (up to 45 days), working under a Faculty Guide from the institute alongside a company supervisor. Internships are conducted during April / May and may be paid or unpaid.
A Log Book (Work Diary) is maintained throughout-recording daily assignments, observations, and reflections. Students are encouraged to choose an organisation aligned with their intended career path.

Learning Outcomes

Students return with sharpened communication skills, the ability to work across disciplines, and a first-hand understanding of how professional values and interpersonal dynamics shape an organisation.

SUMMER PROJECT  ·  MBA MP1  ·  Semester 4

Objectives

The Summer Project is the capstone of the MBA-a two-month, problem-centred research engagement fully embedded in industry. Every student works under a corporate executive mentor, applying the analytical tools and management frameworks acquired across the programme to a genuine business challenge.

Key objectives:

• Create an environment of interaction between academia and industry for mutual benefit
• Provide suitable placement opportunities for MBA students
• Encourage innovative, high-quality research projects
• Provide a platform for nationwide exposure to quality project work
• Enhance academic, career, and personal development through practical learning

Structure & Process:

Students are deputed immediately after fourth semester class work concludes, for a minimum of 60 continuous days. Each project is problem-centred and guided jointly by a Faculty supervisor and a corporate mentor. The work culminates in a hardbound report of at least 100 A4 pages, incorporating both primary and secondary research and appropriate statistical tools for data analysis.

Group Work

Group work forms a major component of the program .The groups are formed in a manner such that participants get to work with people from different educational and cultural backgrounds. Feedback from alumni over the years has proved that the greatest part of one’s learning at the institute happens in group activities.

Lectures and Demonstrations

They are theoretical frame works and tools of analysis .These equip the participants to be managers with cross functional skill and leadership abilities .This aims to instill in the participants, ability to think laterally and to develop an entrepreneurial approach to complex business situations.

The Case Method

Case method of learning hones the analytical and decision making skills of the participants and gives insights into real life management issues. The case method enables the TIM graduates to think on their feet, listen, respond and to work as a team.

Role Play

Role Play helps to develop the ability to analyze issues from person’s point of view and biases .Role play enhances communication skills of students and the ability to empathize with different points of view.

Presentations and problem solving exercises

Presentations and problem solving exercises are not something that the participants do as part of wider curriculum , but its all what they do in TIM. They range from academic oriented students presentations to industry oriented presentations by experts.
