Guest talk on “ Improving Employability in Finance Profession “ by Mr. K A Felix

An interactive session on “Improving Employability in Finance Profession” was conducted by NIDHI, the Finance club of TKM Institute of Management on Tuesday 15th May 2012. The session was presided over by Prof Rajesh Janardhanan, HOD, Finance. Mr. K A Felix began the talk by presenting an overview about the employability of youth in Kerala. It mainly centered on the wide gaps that exists between the practical scenario and the academic knowhow. This was later emphasized by focusing on three crucial areas namely- Production, Marketing and Finance, relevant in any type of organization irrespective of its size. The session emerged highly interactive with the guest profusely quoting many live examples. The guest elaborated upon the “components of the finance cycle”, the importance of working capital and its management, the consequences of wrong estimation of working capital, and major areas of cash problems. Mr. Felix concluded his talk by reminding the students, the most important finance mantra “not to use short term funds for meeting the long term requirements of the firm”. Dr S Kevin, director TIM handed over the memento to the chief guest. The session was blessed by the presence of TIM faculty members.
