‘TACT-TIM’s student body organised an Industry Interface Programme

As a part of the industry interface programme , TACT (TIM’s student body) organized an interactive session with Mr. Jeby Cherian Vice President IBM India PVT LTD as the guest speaker on 4th May 2012 . Mr. Jeby Cherian leads Strategy formulation and execution for IBM in India and South Asia. In addition, he leads Corporate Development and Business Development for IBM in India and South Asia. Before his current role he lead the Global Business Solutions Center in Bangalore. During his professional career Mr.Jeby has designed and implemented cost reduction strategies for Fortune 500 Corporations, advised Dow 30 Companies in the implementation of technology solutions to enable business solutions and led business process re-engineering and finance transformation teams at Fortune 500 Companies. Mr.Jeby is a CPA with a Master’s degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois and an MBA from the University of Chicago. Mr Jeby Cherian had an interactive session with the participants of TIM on the topic ‘The Path to Leadership’. The key areas that he focused on were what the industry expected out of an MBA Graduate and how to succeed in an organization. He also gave some insights into strategic planning in an uncertain environment. He urged the participants to focus on four basic elements namely Talent, Vision, Passion & Environment. He also said that to get hired in Multinational Companies an individual should be collaborative, critical thinker, broad focused, dedicated, should have a good personality, good character and should be trustworthy. He gave the participants a motivational insight of how to become a leader by the inspirational words spoken by former IBM chairman “People who rise up to leadership roles are the ones that deliberately spend a disproportionate amount of time working on their leadership skills.” – former IBM Chairman, Lou Gerstner .
